Stanley Adler was born on 1st feb 1954 in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A.
He played piano, cello and bass guitar in his youth and studied cello and
composition at the University of Michigan.
In 1980 he moved to New York where he played bass for Lydia Lunch and
worked with Steve Bray on Madonna's early demos.
He played in the Eno produced 'The Same' with Carter Burwell (now a
celebrated film composer), Clodagh Simonds (now evolved to 'Fovea Hex' )
and Eric Smith (the inventor of 'The Drummstick' ).
After a number of years away from music, he found himself in London
playing jazz on the cello.
From 1995-2000, he was a member
of the Mike Westbrook Orchestra,
playing on ' Bar Utopia' on ENJA Records and
'Platterback'on the Voiceprint label.
From 1995-8, Stan worked with '12
Rounds' a group produced by Atticus
Ross, performing on 'Jitterjuice' and
'My big Hero' on Nothing and Interscope labels

and 'Still Life Chamber Music' on
ASCRecords.
He now lives in the Languedoc region of France with his partner, paramour and mentor,
Deb Swallow and their daughter, Miriam who loves techno and heavy metal music.
He often plays with pianist and composer, Mark Lockett ( founder of the Wriggly pig label ),
the Dada-inspired improvising quartet, Symphony of Wrong,
and the Indo -European fusion trio ,Ganapati.
